A Conversation about Families

Let’s learn how we might have a conversation asking about someone’s family:

YouAzali mobali/mwasi na yo?Is he your husband/wife
ThemƐε, azali.Yes, he/she is.
YouBazali bana na bino?They are your children? (They are children of you)
ThemƐε, bazali bana malamu. Ozali na bana?Yes, they are good children (they are children good). Do you have children? (You are with children?)
YouTe, nazali na bana te. Bozali na libota kitoko.No, I have no children (I am with children not). You have a beautiful family (You (plural) are with a family beautiful).
ThemMerci, tozali libota ya esengo.Thank you, we are a happy family (we are family of joy).

Let’s add to the conversation about someone’s family:

YouBoni mama mpe papa na yo?How is your mother and father? (How mother and father of you)
ThemBazali malamu, merci.They are well, thanks.
YouBana na bino bazali na mama na yo?Are the children with your mum? (Children of you (plural) they are with mother of you)
ThemƐε, bazali na mama. Bazali kosepela yango.Yes, they are with mother. They are enjoying it.
YouNasepeli koyeba yango.I’m happy to know it
